Position Title: Quality Systems Engineer

Position Summary: Responsible for a broad range of tasks associated with development, maintenance and reporting on the Quality System in the Billerica Manufacturing facility.

Position Key Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned:
· Provide comprehensive review of Quality System compliance and effectiveness through internal audits.
· Improves policies and procedures for quality systems such as Change Control, CAPA, Supplier Certification, and/or Internal Audits.
· Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for the development and manufacturing operations.
· Responsible for the development and maintenance of quality improvement processes in alignment with the Company’s objectives and in accordance with ISO9001 and other applicable regulatory requirements.
· Recommends process improvements utilizing Quality tools (DOE’s, SPC, FMEA, etc) using a “hands-on” approach in a proactive manufacturing environment, providing responsive and effective statistical analysis of data in support of product lines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence and technical procedures. Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to interface with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally. Ability to clearly communicate technical information to both expert and novice audiences. Ability to work in a team environment.

Mathematical Skills Ability to comprehend and execute mathematical and statistical concepts as they apply to the analysis of technical data for the organization.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education and Experience:
Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical discipline and two years experience. Must be computer literate: MS Word, Excel, presentation graphics and good understanding of database concepts. Must possess excellent knowledge of standard quality tools, ie Cpk, DOE, FMEA, SPC and have a good understanding of database concepts. Extensive experience with ISO 9001 requirements required.
Preferred: Five years experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment. Six sigma/Lean experience desireable. CQE or CQA preferred.

Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

This is a production environment. Noise levels may be moderate to high. Individuals may be required to wear a bunny suit for long periods at a time in a clean room environment. Safety glasses are also required. Other safety garments or protection may need to be worn, depending on the nature of the work area.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use complete range of motion with hands and arms as well as tactile fine motor skills. Due to the demands and characteristics of the production environment, the employee is required to stand and walk as well as speak and hear frequently.
